Combining vitamin C with other nutrients can increase its value enormously by increasing uptake and utilisation. Lipoic acid can regenerate ascorbic acid and vitamin E. Phyllanthus emblica, a traditional Ayurvedic herb, is an excellent source of vitamin C, as well as a strong antioxidant, liver tonic, anti-cholesterol agent and immune stimulator. Vitamin E has been shown to contribute to immune regulation  and antibody production. Betacarotene has been shown to down regulate growth factors which contribute towards proliferation of pre-malignant cells. Rutin and hesperidin are included for their ability to increase the strength of capillaries, regulate their permeability and prevent bleeding. They are also strong antioxidants and may help to lower cholesterol.
