SB Floractive contains Saccharomyces boulardii, a yeast that does not colonise the gastrointestinal tract yet has the ability to inhibit the growth of other yeast and has a number of other wide ranging effects on the gut. Some of the other beneficial actions of Saccharomyces boulardii include:

Saccharomyces boulardii increases the production of secretory IgA (sIgA), the predominant immunoglobulin found in mucosal secretions in the body. sIgA is essential for healthy mucosal immunity, helps to neutralise toxins, agglutinate microorganisms, and prevent the adherence of pathogens to the gastrointestinal epithelial lining. Saccharomyces boulardii also encourages healthy intestinal flora to adhere to and colonise the gastrointestinal tract, while inhibiting unwanted pathogens.
